One of our main goals during the design of our house was to provide the building with an automation system. At the beginning I carried out lots of detailed researches on the subject. When you are getting in touch with the world of home automation for the first time, you soon realize that there are several systems employing  the most diverse approaches. My favourite one was a KNX/EIB system. But I became aware very early that such a system would  take up too much time and would be too expensive. The plan progression and the lack of time, together with the possible costs, contributed then to push the automation more and more into the background.

I found out myGEKKO purely by chance and the system struck me immediately. And when I got the extraordinary chance to use a testing system and explore the possibilities it has to offer, all my doubts definitely went away: if we had to install a domotics system, that would be myGEKKO then!

We were looking for a system able to integrate discreetly into the house. The system had to be easily expandable and programmable and no additional tools had to be needed for its execution. myGEKKO offers all these advantages.

The principle myGEKKO is based on meets our needs perfectly. Thanks to the use of standard light sensors and simple sensors such as temperature sensors etc., we managed to contain the costs within acceptable limits.

We installed myGEKKO in order to control the following functions:

• Lights and sockets control (incl. dimmer circuits)
• Home windows surveillance through alarm contacts together with heating and ventilation control
• Single room heating control and passive conditioning
• Comfort ventilation control
• Measurement of power and water consumption incl. trend recording
• Front door control and door bell surveillance with camera
• Garage door control and surveillance

Until the last minute, we haven't been able to make up our minds whether to install myGEKKO or EIB in our house. Our electrician had suggested us an EIB system. But at the last moment we opted for myGEKKO. Since the buttons and sensors wiring through EIB had already been performed, we had to agree to some compromises.

If we could go back in time, myGEKKO would be our first choice from the very beginning; that way, even the electrical system planning and all the house services (heating, ventilation, rain water etc.) would have been arranged together with myGEKKO technicians. Today we would have saved a lot of money, taking the most advantage of the system.

myGEKKO team took care of the basic configuration. We personally arranged the assignments and settings of lights, switches, shutters, venetian blinds, timer etc. Whenever any problems occurred, we could ask for help. You might not believe how many times you can change your mind about details although you seemed to be absolutely convinced of them until a few minutes before. This is one of the greatest advantages myGEKKO offers. Users can easily  modify or correct themselves the settings. If we had to call an electrician every time a problem occurs, we should spend so much time and money that we would end up getting used to things not working, even if in the end you get angry every day.

We moved to our new house in December 2010 and since then myGEKKO has always worked perfectly. Thanks to its user-friendliness, the three of us can use it without difficulty and its functions are now part of our daily routine: we are able to check whether it's going to be windy or it rained during the night; we can verify if lights are off or there is anybody at the door, … and much more besides.  We are continually improving the system by making little modifications in an attempt to optimize processes and possibly integrate new functions.

And, to my great surprise, my wife has been totally conquered by myGEKKO, so much so that now she couldn't do without it anymore.

Thanks to the excellent assistance, the user-friendliness and the stability of the system, today we wouldn't have any more doubts: myGEKKO would be our first choice.

We decided to install myGEKKO system as we were having a renovation done in our house. While our home was being designed, we were helped by Mr. Stöckl from myGEKKO Germany, who also assisted us with the start-up and the first settings on myGEKKO once the works had been completed. We thought about placing the cables and wiring the switch box.

Through our GEKKO we can not only control shutters and lights, but also heating circuits inside the house. We chose this system since it is easily expandable (in case this option has been provided for by the original plan: free cables and enough room inside the switch box). Moreover, the operating software is constantly updated (by software updates downloadable from the Internet). Over the medium term, we are planning to get our heating system completely integrated while a sound control system has already been arranged in each room and is just waiting to be expanded.

Furthermore, the touch-panel control is very clear and easy to learn for people who are already familiar with  Windows. The system is incredibly stable and reliable. The customization options are really amazing and we haven't managed to fully exploit them yet (digital frame, pictures loading  for each single room, landscapes in all possible versions, just  to mention a few). Probably I will be able to say something more a year from now, once our myGEKKO will be customized according to our safety, comfort and energy efficiency needs.  

Mr Stöckl has been of great help too. Thanks to his competence, he managed to give us a lot of important information while we were getting the system installed and, what is more, he was reachable anytime. We are persuaded that our current choice will be just the start of a new energy efficient and comfortable way of living our house for the next 20 years.
